Drew's Trebuchet

Drew has been working on a trebuchet for physics. One of our neighbors has been helping him in Scott's absence. I am very grateful. It would probaby have been made of toothpicks and marshmallows, if I'd been helping him:)
Drew's working hard assembling the frame
Here's his "Mooommmm, do you have to be here taking pictures?" look
More assembly work

Here's the almost finished product. Drew still needs to add the weight and put the sling on. Other than that, it's finished!

Camping Weekend

This weekend the boys and Grandpa went camping with Scouts. The pics are courtesy of Grandpa. They had a great time, aside from the thunder and lightning on Friday night. Everyone was exhausted today when they got home.

Spring Music Concert

This afternoon, Devin's school had it's spring music concert. Devin performed on his clarinet with Band and also sang a song in Spanish with his class. Well, I say 'sang' loosely.

Here's Devin "singing"

Here is 'Linus and Lucy' as performed by the Mahaffey Middle School band

4-H State Archery Competition

Last Friday night, Grandpa took Drew to the state archery competition. Drew placed 4th overall and the team placed 2nd. It was a great night for the county's 4-H program! Thanks for taking him, Grandpa!!

Here are the targets set up and ready to go. They did 12 rounds with 5 arrows in each round. Half were at a 10 meter distance and the other half were at 15 meters.

Kentucky Down Under
This weekend, Connie and I took Paige, Brianna and Kati to Kentucky Down Under. We had a great time together learning about native Australian animals and just hanging out together.

Our first stop of the morning was to feed some birds seeds stuck to peanut butter. They weren't shy about landing on the stick and cleaning them up!

Here they are, ready to conquer KDU!

The redbuds are looking amazing right now. They look gorgeous against the backdrop of all the other trees getting their spring green leaves.

Connie stopped to say hi to this Cockatoo

This peacock has the run of KDU

Here's a baby Dingo with it's mom

We had the opportunity to get up close and personal with kangaroos and wallabees. The girls took a moment to pet this kangaroo.

Here's Paige petting an emu. They had a couple of baby emus on the other side of the fence. They were very cute.

There weren't many places to eat near KDU, so we ended up driving half an hour down the road to see what we could find. Jackpot! We had our choice of restaurants, but as soon as we spotted Panera, there was no question about where we would be eating dinner!

Believe it or not, there are three girls under there! We were all wiped out from our day at KDU. Before bed we spent about 2 hours playing Catch Phrase. There were a few moments of concern that we would be kicked out the hotel because we were being so noisy. Connie's throat was sore from laughing so much.

Here is a little 'hidden camera' video that I took in the car on the way back from dinner. You won't be able to see anything because it was dark, but you'll get an idea of how our weekend went!

Libbie Fun!
Tonight we got to spend some quality time with Libbie while Ame spent the evening having some fun of her own. Lucky for us! Libbie was an angel, of course. Here are a few pics from the evening:

Paige and Libbie hung out on the couch

Paige put Libbie to sleep after a game of 'pajama twister'. It was pretty funny trying to get jammies onto a baby after such a long time.

1 Baby + 1 Video camera = pretty cute

Libbie starred, produced and directed her very own short video

Fishing With Grandpa
Sunday Grandpa took Devin fishing at Marrow Bone Lake. The fish weren't biting much, but it was a beautiful day and Devin had a lot of fun just hanging out with Dad. Here are a few pics of the afternoon:

YUM YUM!!!

Tonight Drew made two Apfelkuchen for his Spanish class project that he has to present tomorrow.

They turned out very well. Now I'm just hoping for some leftovers so I can give it a try!

Is it Really JUST April 1st?

Drew was hard at work today mowing the grass for the first time this year. Yes, he's in shorts. Jake wanted to make sure that he did a good job!

Devin worked on his colosseum for school. He didn't get very far today. It's due in a few weeks, so I guess he has some time.
