The Big 4H Competition!

This morning, we were fortunate enough to wake up at 5 a.m. and hit the road for the big competition. Anyone who really knows me, understands what that 5 a.m. wake-up call was like!

We arrived in Milan, TN at about 8:40 this morning. The kids unloaded grills, tongs, meat and assorted decorations and got signed up for the big grill competition.

Meanwhile, the forestry teams waited for their turn to head into the woods for their competition.

After staking a claim for their grills, the teams got cooking. Adults were not allowed anywhere near the teams once timing started. Judges went around asking questions and observing cooking areas and techniques.

The parents staked their own claim for our little tailgate party. We couldn't let the kids be the only ones grilling!

Once the forestry teams finished identifying trees and insects, it was a waiting game for awards.

Here's the girl's table, all set and showing off their grilled meat. They did a great job!

The Results!!!

The girl's team won second place for their Australian themed grilling! Brianna and Kati also one first place for their individual dishes. Stuffed Pork Tenderloin for Brianna and Lamb Chops for Kati. Way to go!

Devin's team took second place and Drew's team took fourth! Pretty impressive, considering they had their first Forestry meeting one month ago! Drew's team is eligible to compete at the state level in October. The junior teams don't go to state. This is practice for when they are on senior teams.
