Pioneer Day!
Paige's 8th grade class has been preparing for Pioneer Day for several weeks. They've learned how to square dance, quilt and make butter. Today was the culmination of all that work. They enjoyed many activities and had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for lunch. Here are some pics:

Paige's day started out at 9 a.m. with square dancing. She do-si-doed and promenaded for a good half hour. It looked like a lot of fun.

Next stop was candle making. Paige and her friends dipped wicks in wax and got more on each other than they did on the wicks.

Almost done. The finished candle was red.

Making butter. All you need is a baby food jar, heavy cream and a little salt. Shake, shake, shake and you have a ball of butter when you are done.

Quilting with nice, tiny stitches. I'm not sure how many pioneer days this quilt has seen, but I'm guessing it's been a few.

Popcorn and cranberry garlands were the final stop before their feast.
